Community Involvement

Hispanic Women's Network of Texas, Fort Worth Chapter: The Hispanic Women’s Network - Fort Worth (HWNT) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and has a long history of promoting Hispanics in professional, civic and corporate circles in the North Texas area. The most laudable program of our Chapter is our educational/leadership program, "Latinas In Progress" that assists Hispanic women entering colleges and universities to prepare them for leadership roles in the community. This program was created to convey information to high school students and their parents about college life, the admission process, and scholarship opportunities. Students and mentors participate in our educational sessions that include college preparation, financial aid and scholarships, how to choose a career, college life, schedules and curriculum. Other topics we cover include HWNT history, public policy, and life skills training. This program is recognized by local institutions of higher learning as an excellent preparatory program for our students who are entering academic studies and leadership roles. HWNT has awarded many scholarships to deserving students with a 95% retention rate among the recipients.
